Junior Full Stack Developer

About the role

Brightpath Data Systems is a small analytics software studio building reporting tools for mid-sized logistics companies. The junior full stack developer will join a product team of six engineers, working on customer-facing dashboards and internal APIs with time split between the downtown Austin office and remote work. This role is suited to someone with one to two years of professional experience or a strong portfolio of self-directed projects who wants mentorship and steady growth in a relaxed, collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain features in our web application using React and Python
• Write and consume REST APIs backed by PostgreSQL
• Participate in code reviews and weekly sprint planning
• Troubleshoot bugs reported by customer support and follow them through to a fix
• Write unit tests and help improve our automated test coverage
• Document new features for the internal team and customer help centre

Requirements

• One or more years of experience with JavaScript and a modern front-end framework
• Working knowledge of a server-side language such as Python or Node.js
• Familiarity with relational databases and basic SQL
• Comfortable using Git and collaborating on a shared codebase
• Clear written communication for remote collaboration
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Austin area
